Prior to this assignment, Ms. Nelida Rodrigues served as UNFPA Deputy Representative and acting Representative in Myanmar, 2019-2022, advancing UNFPA’s mandate in an unstable political context and humanitarian crisis.
Ms. Rodrigues has vast experience at the national and international levels. She previously served at the UNFPA HQ as a Programme Specialist in the Africa Geographical Division, West and Central Branch. As a desk office, Ms. Rodrigues supported and provided oversight to eight countries in West and Central Africa, most of which were in conflict or post-conflict situations at the time. Her educational and professional experience, from Government to Academia to the NGO sector, allowed Ms. Rodrigues to live in different realities and cultures, from Brazil to France, the USA, Guinea Bissau, Angola, Mozambique and Uganda, among others.
A national of Cape Verde, Ms. Rodrigues holds a Master’s degree in Anthropology. She is fluent in English, French, Portuguese, and Spanish.
